THE St Stephen's Shopping Centre team will be slipping on their running shoes and hosting Hull's first ever Santa Run on Sunday, December 6. Much more than just a community event, the centre is inviting all to get together and help raise Pounds 10,000 for 96.9 Viking FM's Cash For Kids charity organisation, which is hoping to give lots of local children a really wonderful Christmas.
St Stephen's has been partnered with many local charities and organisations since opening in 2006, including its charity partnership with the Oncology and Haematology Department at Castle Hill Hospital, Breast Cancer Awareness month and Hull City Council's Make Pounds 5 Blossom scheme.
St Stephen's centre manager Jim Harris said: "St Stephen's strives to help and be involved with as many local charities as we can, using our facilities and position within the city to good use.
"We're incredibly excited about hosting Hull's first ever Santa Run and extremely honoured to be helping raise money for such a worthwhile cause.
"We want to get the entire community involved this Christmas and encourage them to don their red suits and running shoes with all of us at St Stephen's and join in what is sure to be a fantastic day."
birthstone Leather Bracelets Working with 96.9 Viking FM, St Stephen's has been able to help immeasurably with the station's official charity campaign, Cash For Kids.
All the money raised for this wonderful charity is used to help children from East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire who suffer from abuse, neglect, special needs or disadvantages in life.
Viking FM's Mark Lonsdale said: "This charity is incredibly important to us all and we wanted to host an event that would raise as much money as possible. The Santa Run is going to be a massive event for all the family to get involved with and really have some fun before Christmas.
"One hundred per cent of Replica Panerai Watch proceeds from the Santa Run will be donated to Cash For Kids to help make children's lives better and bring a little Christmas cheer, which is what we're hoping to do with a little help from you."
Sterling support for the Santa Run has already been gained from some of Hull's top sports stars from Hull City and the Hull Stingrays, including Tigers star players George Boateng and Jan Venegoor of Hesselink, who posed for photos sporting Santa hats in training.
Rob Smith, Hull City marketing manager, said: "We were delighted to get involved in the photo shoot and only hope we can help to raise awareness of both the event and the charity - we want to encourage everyone to get signed up with their Santa suits at the ready."
The Santa Run will commence at 9.30am on Sunday, December 6, when Santa-clad runners will be setting off from St Stephen's Shopping Centre and completing the 3km run, ending up at West Park and the KC Stadium, where they will collect their special Santa Fun Run medals.
St Stephen's are limited to just 500 entries for the run. To take part in the event, simply register now on either the St Stephen's or Viking FM websites.
There is a Pounds 10 entry fee, which includes a Santa outfit and sponsorship form. The hope is for all participants to gain a minimum of Pounds 20 sponsorship, helping St Stephen's to hit the generous Cash For Kids fundraising target.
This will be a superb family day out with plenty of extra activities
